Appointment-only testing site at southwest OKC Walmart to bolster local COVID-19 testing

(Oklahoma City) - A new, appointment-only testing site at a Walmart store in southwest Oklahoma City will bolster local COVID-19 testing capabilities for the next month.
 
The drive-through Walmart testing site3301 SW 104th Street, opens April 27 and is for people exhibiting coronavirus symptoms, or any health care worker or first responder even without symptoms. The testing criteria at the Walmart site is different from other testing sites in the metro.
 
To get an appointment at the Walmart testing site:

Walmart health care professionals, eTrueNorth staff and volunteers will staff the testing site. People receiving tests will get a kit to swab their own nose inside their car, observed by trained staff to make sure the sample is taken and handled correctly.
 
Test results are available within about 48 hours. While awaiting results, everyone who is tested should follow U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to help prevent further spread of the virus.
 
Testing is not available inside any Walmart store. There’s only one Walmart drive-through testing site in Oklahoma City (3301 SW 104th Street), and everyone needs an appointment in advance through DoINeedaCOVID19test.com.
 
The Walmart testing site is being administered with the cooperation of the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) and Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). It can process about 200 tests per day.
 
Other testing in the OKC metro
 
The Walmart drive-thru testing site is the newest COVID-19 testing site in the Oklahoma City area, but there are other ways to get a test. OCCHD is also testing people using procedures already in place.
 
You can seek medical attention through your health care provider, which may refer you for testing.
 
You may also seek testing through OCCHD without a medical referral if you meet certain guidelines. The testing is available with or without health insurance. Testing is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment without a referral, call the OCCHD triage line at (405) 425-4489 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
