Vision for Public Education Project

The Vision for Oklahoma Public Education committee, convened by the Oklahoma State School Boards Association and the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration, invites students, parents, educators, employers and residents from all 77 counties to share ideas, suggestions and feedback. They will use the results to help develop a strategic action plan that focuses on strengthening and expanding opportunities and services for students and compiles a collection of best practices that can be shared across the state. It will also outline ways local and state entities can work together to enhance and improve education.

There are two immediate ways for our partners to support and influence this important work:

Complete the online exchange, which can be found at ossba.org/vision. This interactive, two-way platform, powered by Thought Exchange, will allow you to share your thoughts about the future of public education and rate the thoughts of other Oklahomans. Responses will be accepted through May 31. You can complete the exchange here

Encourage others within your organization and those in your circles of influence to complete the online exchange before the deadline. Share the information with civic groups, city officials and community leaders. OSSBA and CCOSA have prepared numerous resources leaders can use promote this opportunity in their circles of influence:

Responses from the exchange will be compiled by the 56-member committee, comprised of school administrators and school board members from across the state. They will use the information, along with other education-related research, to complete the five-year strategic action plan, which is expected to be published next winter. The project is an extension of work that began by OSSBA and CCOSA more than 10 years ago – with previous reports released in 2014 and 2019.

The exchange includes two primary questions for Oklahomans to answer:

In your opinion, what are the qualities of a life-ready Oklahoma public high school graduate?

What do you think is important to ensure the success of public education in Oklahoma? Respondents also will rate submissions from fellow Oklahomans for this question.

This is our moment to shape the future of public education in our state. Thank you in advance for sharing your ideas and feedback. We appreciate your dedication to Oklahoma students and families.
