MAYOR BLESS PARKER NAMED TO OML BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Oklahoma Municipal League Board of Directors named Bless Parker, Mayor of Miami to join the Board of Directors representing District 1.

“We are proud to add Mayor Parker to the OML Board of Directors,” said Pam Polk, President of the OML Board of Directors and City Manager of the City of Durant. “The outstanding leaders that make up the OML Board provide strong, steady leadership to not only the OML organization, but also the State of Oklahoma.”

Bless Parker is in his second term as Mayor of Miami and was first elected in May of 2020. Parker was a finalist for the OML Mayor of the Year award in 2023 and 2024. During his tenure the City of Miami was awarded the “2023 Impact Award” by the Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce, and received the Ottawa County Boys and Girls Club “2023 Champion for Kids Award.” Mayor Parker has also served on the Mayors Council of Oklahoma Board of Directors since 2022.

“I am honored to serve on the OML Board of Directors,” Parker said. “OML is an important resource for cities and towns, and the organization is able to speak with one voice on issues that are important to municipalities across the state.”

“Oklahoma has strong leadership at the local level,” said Mike Fina, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Municipal League. “A group of municipal leaders providing a consistent, unified message allows for municipalities to have a major impact on statewide issues and we are proud to lead the way.” 

The Oklahoma Municipal League is the authoritative source for information, training, and resources on effective local government for member organizations and is recognized as the unified voice of Oklahoma cities and towns.
