National Suicide Prevention and Recovery Month – Toolkit and Resources for Your Community

September is National Suicide Prevention and Recovery Month, providing Oklahomans a valuable opportunity to learn the warning signs of suicide and raise awareness of recovery options for those battling a substance use disorder.

As leaders in your local communities, we encourage you to join the 988 Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline, powered by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), movement and help spread the message about the importance of prioritizing suicide prevention and recovery awareness, not just during this month but beyond.

988 is a direct, three-digit lifeline connecting individuals with trained Oklahoma behavioral health professionals who can help them.

We want to make sure every Oklahoman has the chance to prioritize their emotional wellness, work through crises and recovery with free and confidential mental health support by texting or calling 988. To assist in spreading this important message, we have partnered with 988 to create a comprehensive toolkit for Oklahoma Municipalities. This toolkit contains ready-to-use social media posts, email copy and visuals, enabling you to effectively share mental health support through your official channels (be sure to tag @988Oklahoma). You can access the toolkit by clicking on the following link: LINK

By working together, we can make a meaningful impact on the mental well-being of our fellow Oklahomans to aid in suicide prevention and recovery from substance use disorder. Let's stand united in offering support and promoting the 988 lifeline as a valuable resource for our communities.
