Attract New Homes To Rural Areas With The Rural Housing Initiative
Home ownership is essential to a community’s growth and viability. The Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) and the Oklahoma Home Builders Association (OkHBA) are announcing a collaborative effort to encourage the construction of new homes in rural areas. The concept is designed to utilize abandoned or city owned lots, as well other privately owned properties with owners interested in participating in the program.
Program Details: The Oklahoma Homebuilders have partnered with a USDA 502 lender who will provide funding to qualified borrowers and free of charge financial guidance/counseling to help local residents improve their credit and obtain home ownership. OkHBA has underwritten architecture design expenses which will lower the overall purchasing price of homes and will coordinate these services with interested buyers. OML will maintain a database of available properties and assist local governments with inquiries concerning abandoned and dilapidated properties.
