Transit officials unveiled the new branding of a future bus rapid transit line coming to northwest Oklahoma City in 2023. Utilizing a blue and green color scheme and the name Rapid, officials said the new system will be instantly recognizable.

Besides the buses, the new system will include similar colored pylons at each stop that include maps, a digital board and a raised platform that will make boarding the buses similar to boarding the downtown streetcar.

“Every stop in the system will have a pylon,” said Michael Scroggins, communications director for Oklahoma City’s transportation department.

The new system will be the first of three rapid bus lines coming to Oklahoma City over the next several years.

“BRT provides a commuter service that operates and feels in many ways like commuter rail, but, being bus, it’s a lot more affordable to build,” said Mayor David Holt. “BRT has proven to be popular and has a record of attracting riders that might otherwise be resistant to traditional bus service.”
Fast facts: The Rapid Northwest line will be 9.5 miles each way, with 30 stops and priority traffic signals at 38 intersections.
