January Is Mentor Month

The Oklahoma Municipal League and the Mayors Council of Oklahoma are partnering with Mentor4OK to encourage mayors to support their local mentoring programs by honoring mentors throughout the Mentoring Awareness Month held in January 2023.

The Mayors Honoring Mentors was established in 2021 recognizing outstanding mentors who have made significant contributions to their community through mentoring.

Mayors are scaling quality mentoring initiatives, mobilizing their communities, and better equipping young people to succeed through improved school attendance and achievement. Mentoring is an essential component of moving people and organizations forward through life. Quality mentoring impacts those in elementary through high school, college and CareerTech, corporations and businesses, the military, juvenile justice, and other special populations, such as those involved in adult incarceration and reentry, mental health, substance abuse, parenthood, and more.

The honorees will be presented with a certificate and an announcement will be sent to the media so that the recipient will receive statewide recognition.
