Listing Description
The City of Elk City is looking to fill a Level I, II, or III, Technician role in its Information Technology Department.
Qualifications
All levels – General
Under supervision of senior staff, the Technician will act as a first level problem identification and resolution provider. This will include answering questions, providing advice, troubleshooting, prioritizing issues, and following up to assist users in solving their technology problems. The Technician is responsible for escalating issues to senior support staff or vendor support as needed and ensuring timely resolution of all requests.
Applicants must meet these minimum requirements.
· Have and maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
· Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
o No felonies or Misdemeanors
· Must be able to pass a drug screening.
· Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Be proficient in using hand tools and small equipment.
· Good hand eye coordination for tasks that require precise movements.
· Be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Have the capacity to bend, squat, or kneel to access equipment and wiring in tight spaces.
· Climb ladders or work in elevated positions.
· Use bucket truck and/or scissor lifts.
· Adequate vision to read small print and operate equipment effectively.
All Levels – Technical Support
· Serve as the first point of contact for all IT related issues, providing hardware, software, and network problem resolution.
· Perform preventive maintenance and assist with routine servicing of hardware.
· Monitor, test, and maintain Windows OS and Software updates through an RMM tool.
· Coordinate problem resolution, track, and report recurring problems.
· Coordinate and/or perform testing of hardware and software.
· Manage inventory control for computers and peripheral devices.
· Manage software licensing.
· Manage and maintain user access, including user provisioning in Active Directory and access to third party applications.
· Identify, isolate, and resolve problems with information systems products, services, and applications.
· Document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to system issues.
· Manage IT Department documentation.
All Levels – Skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Ability to successfully communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Working knowledge of PC hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair.
· Ability to prioritize workload based on impact and severity while working independently in a team environment.
· Ability to troubleshoot problems by determining causes of operating errors and deciding how to solve them.
· Proven ability to work with people at all levels within an organization and with a wide variety of technical aptitudes.
· Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory.
· Preferred experience in the following:
Basic Networking skills, Ticketing Software, Remote Tools.
Level I Technician – Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or GED
· 6 months to 1 year of experience in an IT support related role.
Preferred Certifications:
o CompTIA A+
Level II Technician
Education and Experience
· Associate degree in any Computer-related field and or 2 to 5 years of experience in an IT support role.
Preferred Certifications:
o CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+
Level III Technician
Education and Experience
· Batchelor’s degree in a computer related field.
· 5+ years of experience in an IT support role.
· Network Engineering, with a strong understanding of routing and VLANs.
· Installing and supporting firewalls, switches, routers, and VPN connections.
· Hyper Visor (VMWare, Hyper-V).
· Server installation and maintenance.
Preferred Certifications:
o CCNA, VCP, Microsoft, LPI
