Let's Get Together
June 12-14, 2024
Weatherford, OK

Dear Mayors:
May 13, 2024

The Mayor’s Council of Oklahoma is holding the annual Mayors’ Summer Conference June 12-14, in Weatherford. I would like to invite you and your family to join us for this amazing event.  It is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to network with fellow mayors from around the State who not only understand the issues you face but are also there to share their experiences and assist with possible solutions.

Mayor Mike Brown is our event host this year.  Mayor Brown and the Weatherford crew, as well as the Mayors’ Council of Oklahoma (MCO), have put together a conference that will be educational and entertaining.

This annual conference will provide mayors, vice-mayors and their families an opportunity to experience the very best that Weatherford has to offer.  Every year mayors, vice-mayors and their families have been surprised by the innovations and local treasures of the host city.

We have a tradition of many mayors bringing a door prize from their community.  It’s not required, just fun.  So, show off some of your local fare or something for which your community is famous as a contribution to the prize drawings throughout the event.

I look forward to seeing you in June!

Best regards,
Craig Parham
MCO President
Mayor
Town of Amber

New Officials Institute (NOI)

The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures.

State law requires each person elected or appointed for the first time as an officer of a municipality to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.

An officer is defined in 11 O.S. Section 1-102 as “any person who is elected to an office in municipal government or is appointed to fill an unexpired term of an elected office, and the clerk and the treasurer whether elected or appointed. When “officer” or “official” is modified by a term which refers to a personnel position or duty, the holder of the position or duty is not an officer or official of the municipality for any purpose.”

The Oklahoma Municipal League is certified by the Department of Career and Technology as a trainer to implement this Act.

Remember, you don't have to be new to attend.  Everyone is welcome!
