DESCRIPTION:
This is an entry-level professional and administrative position tasked with daily administrative duties, licensing and permitting of potential projects, website and social media management and assisting with the various tasks and goals in the City of Bethany Community Development Department.
Work involves administrative and technical duties in such diverse activities as website manager, plan approval and licensing and permitting. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning and Community Development Director and is reviewed through conferences and reports for overall program effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Support the Planning & Community Development Director in the day-to-day task as requested.
•Serves as backup to the Planning & Community Development Administrative Assistant.
•Reviews and approves applications and plans for all permits that do not require a license
•Assists with commercial site plan reviews.
•Manages the medical marijuana permitting and inspection process.
•Responsible for maintaining and updating the City website content.
•Reviews content on City social media sites to ensure consistency with City policies.
•Occasionally plans, designs, creates and distributes marketing and communication material.
•Create graphics, presentations, and other visuals for external and internal dissemination.
•Execute written products including meeting minutes, research papers, spreadsheets with data captures, etc.
•Revises departmental forms and documents.
•Provides effective and efficient customer services and promotes and maintains responsive community relations: answers questions and provides information to citizens and developers regarding zoning regulations and procedural requirements.
•Assist with code enforcement as needed.
•Provides staff support to ensure the successful completion of pertinent grant applications.
•Assists with arranging and conducting public information meetings relative to the activities of community development.
•Provides effective and efficient customer services and promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
•Maintains the confidentiality of private information.
•Manages and maintains the stormwater program for the City.
•Maintains a safe work environment for employees; develops standards and procedures for safe work practices; instructs employees on safe work practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
oMinimum of Associates degree, Bachelor’s preferred or comparable experience.
oExperience in community development, economic development, urban planning or comparable.
oExcellent interpersonal skills, self-directed and highly motivated.
oExcellent written and oral communication skills.
oAbility to prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks.
oEfficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
oAttention to detail.
oAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include some evening and weekends.
oAbility to research and analyze data with minimal direction.
oAbility to operate a computer and other general office equipment.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
oPossession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
ENVIRONMENT:

oWork is performed in an office setting as well as on-site involving outdoor work in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites, and residential streets and parkways. The employee is occasionally exposed to adverse weather conditions, uneven terrain, wet terrain and hot/cold or humid conditions. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
oWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk.
oThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
oSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
