Position Overview

The City of Lexington, Oklahoma, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, ethical City Manager to lead our municipal operations and serve as a strategic partner to the City Council. The City Manager acts as the chief administrative officer and is responsible for the overall direction and administration of the city government. This position operates under the guidelines of the Oklahoma Municipal Code, applicable laws, and policies adopted by the City Council.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with the ability to work closely with the Council as part of a unified leadership team, promoting transparency, professionalism, and results-driven governance.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Municipal administrative principles, including goal setting, budgeting, employee supervision, and program development

• City functions, operations, and applicable laws and regulations

• Public funding sources and service delivery strategies

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree is highly desirable.

Experience:

• Minimum of four (4) years in a senior management role within city or county government
• Prior experience as a city or county manager is strongly preferred
• Comparable senior executive experience in other public service organizations or private business will be considered if it involved significant public interaction and service delivery responsibilities
